The gap formation between rafter and ridge board appear to be due to improperly cut length of rafter right from beginning.
For 2 x 4 rafters use a 2 x 6 ridge board.
I think that was unusual i can t imagine a claims adjuster doing that normally.

I can see 1 4 to 1 2 inch gap between the ridge board and rafters.
It wasn t a very tall pitched roof so it was easy to get on and off.
In traditional house framing also called stick framing a basic roof frame consists of opposing pairs of sloping rafters that meet at their top ends at a ridge board or ridge beam.
The limbs of the tree punctured the roof in at least two spots so we re already looking at repairs.

Oh and my husband went up on the roof with the claims adjuster and the 2 of them took the branch off the roof.
The ridge board s length will be the outside measurement of the building plus the length of the overhang at both ends.
